About My Clients

I enjoy working with LGBTQ+ identified clients. There are many facets about LGBTQ+ life that may be a stressor and worthwhile to process in therapy. I especially enjoy working with those who have experienced religious trauma or whom identify as BIPOC. My other specialty is treating anxiety, OCD, hoarding disorder, and phobias. Therapy can appear intimidating and is a lot of hard work. That's why I love to incorporate humor whenever possible/appropriate!

My Background and Approach

Before becoming a therapist, I worked for over 4 years as an Independent Living Skills worker in the community and in clients' homes. I have seen what a large variety of mental health concerns look like outside of the office. These experiences have taught me more about how to incorporate a holistic approach and that therapy is not one-size-fits-all but rather, tailored to your individual needs and lifestyle. I also have experience in co-facilitating a Chronic Illness Group and run my own LGBTQ+ Group. Both are currently on hold (COVID-19) but my LGBTQ+ Group is accepting new members for the near future in online format. Your personal story is unique. Your culture, perspectives, and values help me understand how to use approaches that fit you. As mentioned, I like to use skills, talk therapy, and humor in sessions. This way you will learn new things, process feelings, and walk away feeling rejuvenated rather than exhausted after session.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a believer in a holistic approach. Mental health wellness includes mind, body, and soul. My office offers adjuncts to traditional talk therapy. My values and/or areas I support include: HAES, BLM, Poly/Kink friendly, HIV/AIDS allied, sex-positive/sex-worker allied, and several other views I'm sure you can imagine. This does not mean that I judge or dislike any "conservative" type people. I enjoy gently challenging clients to revisit their beliefs/values and reconstruct a new personal narrative as needed for personal growth. I enjoy guiding others in developing their sense of self and demolishing old, unhealthy thought patterns. If this sounds like a good fit to you, please send me a message here or on Psychology Today (see website button). I am honored and look forward to being part of your healing journey.
