About My Clients
The mental health field is a significant passion of mine because I enjoy being an unbiased, healthy support to others who may need it in a time of distress. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, relationship issues, major life transitions, trauma, and abuse. It takes a great amount of courage to start the journey of unpacking and addressing unresolved issues, and I commend you for taking the steps towards mental wellness.
My Background and Approach
I earned a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years with experience across diverse populations and communities. I have an eclectic style of therapy, meaning I like to incorporate multiple approaches to assist clients in their journey. Some of the more common approaches I use are Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused, Trauma-Informed. I believe that compassion, support, patience, and unconditional positive regard are what is necessary in helping others become the person they choose to be and live the life that is best suited for them. As a therapist, it is not my position to tell you how to think or live your life; instead, I prefer to be a supportive passenger on your journey, providing guidance and/or assistance tailored to your unique experience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. Which means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. I believe that compassion, support, patience, and attentiveness are what is necessary in helping others on their journey to mental wellness. I find it fulfilling to be a support to clients as they transition from being burdened by their limiting beliefs and challenges to being fully empowered, confident, and capable of living life on their terms, in their control. It creates such a shift in a person and we all are deserving of that level of freedom.
