About My Clients
My clients are often highly motivated to experience shifts in how they hold compassionate space for themselves and those they love. Individuals, couples, and families who have experienced multiple life transitions, recovery from spiritual abuse, family of origin trauma due to being raised in a highly emotional and/or chaotic family system. Some clients identify as neurodiverse and are referred to my practice for my specializations in transforming relational dynamics in close relationships.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in treating “hard to treat” couples who may be in individual therapy and/or tried multiple couple’s counselors but always seem to get stuck in the same place of feeling disconnected. There is often a desire to heal the relational wounds and yet traditional talk therapy hasn’t helped. I provide focused care in an intensive format that helps individuals and couples step outside of their day to day lives and learn to communicate in new ways. The focus is on mindfulness and grounding techniques, as well as awareness of personal blocks in the relationship due to past relational wounds that may be adding unhelpful dynamics to the relationship. Healing happens in the present as couples learn a new way to be relationally present. We collaboratively create a care plan that focuses on client goals from day one. I provide a warm, person centered, compassionate presence that helps clients feel safe, seen, understood, and hopeful in whatever next steps may be for continued healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we are born into this world precious, vulnerable, needing to be protected and have our emotional and relational needs met. We need to know we are seen, known, and loved. Our early attachment is formed in those early years. Unfortunately, we may not always have our core needs met or we experience a trauma or rupture and we develop behaviors designed to protect ourselves from further harm. These survival strategies were necessary for survival in our stories, but can manifest in unhelpful interaction patterns with others in the current setting of our life who may want to be close to us. This is where the gift of healing is found- in the present moments of life. Emotional and relational wounds happen in the context of relationships, and the path to healing is found in experiencing safe connection with others. The first step is in slowing down and embracing authenticity, beauty, dignity, and becoming more fully integrated. You are not alone. All of you is welcome here.
