About My Clients
I work with adults who are willing to engage, have a desire to grow, and/or shed unhelpful thoughts or habits which get in the way of happiness and well-being. My clients appreciate my playful demeanor and direct communication, as well as my role of cheerleader throughout the therapy process.
My Background and Approach
Prior to beginning private practice work, I was a school-based play therapist at a West Oakland elementary school, a therapeutic behavioral services clinician serving children/adolescents in Contra Costa County on a 1:1 basis, and facilitated groups for adults dealing with the death or life-threatening illness of a partner. As a recent mid-life career changer, I have extensive life experience and being a mother to two grown children, I understand the challenges parents face. I will work collaboratively with you to identify and build upon your strengths, and help you make connections to increase your insight. Together we will create goals, and strive to achieve them in a supportive, judgement-free atmosphere.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Welcome and congratulations on taking a risk to reach out to a professional to help improve your life and/or relationships. You might want help to change unhealthy patterns of communication within your familial, work, peer, and/or romantic relationships. Boundary issues or feelings of inadequacy from past trauma can leave you feeling depleted and in our efforts to please others, we can sometimes we lose touch with ourselves, or don't feel entitled to having our own needs met. Because I believe we all have the capability to heal our pain by engaging in the therapeutic process with the appropriate professional, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to determine whether you and I might be a good fit, as well as some sliding-scale slots in order to accommodate clients with financial concerns.
