About My Clients
My clients are often folks who feel stuck - something isn't working in their current life. Maybe they want to change their relationships, careers, or habits, but are not sure how. Maybe they're going through a life transition or processing a loss and feeling overwhelmed. All of this makes sense - change is very hard! Whether it's something they want or something that they're trying to deal with, I work with clients to increase their capacity to cope with change.
My Background and Approach
My overarching goal as a therapist is to put myself out of a job - I want my clients to learn skills, improve their functioning, and reach their own goals so that they feel comfortable graduating from therapy. I work holistically with my clients to understand their strengths and successes as well as their current challenges and desired changes. I explore with my clients how their cultural, social, and family systems have impacted their development and sense of selves. I strive to help my clients increase their self-awareness and self-compassion so that they can feel a greater sense of control and empowerment in their own lives. I am a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#130029) based in San Francisco. I earned my M.A. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of San Francisco and my B.A. in Psychology at Amherst College. Prior to starting my own private practice, I worked at community mental health agencies in SF.
