About My Clients
My clients are as varied as my community! Do you feel like your life is slipping away in the name of abuse survival? Autoimmune disease? Chronic pain? Athletic/Sports achievement? My clients work with me to cope better with Depression, Anxiety, Spectrum hurdles, and other barriers to just feeling comfortable with the day-to-day challenges they face in today's rapidly changing world. They are athletes, parents, children, patients, all searching for better ways to get through the day.
My Background and Approach
I'm not like most therapists. After earning my Master's degree in Social Work from University of Southern CA (USC), I worked in Sacramento, CA, lobbying for social workers and their clients in the California Legislature and Executive. I worked with social workers of all disciplines, and I met their clients in every imaginable setting. I took over a decade off to work on my own Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, and to work as a full-time competitive swimming coach here in the South Bay. Today, I continue to serve my community by coaching swimming as well as working with clients just like you here in my clinical practice. My hope for you and all my clients is that together we will work to custom tailor coping skills for your individual daily needs, whatever they may be.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Human beings and our bodies are truly remarkable. There is very little limit to what we can do! Unhealthy behaviors, learned or absorbed, can slow us down or even block us from realizing our true daily potential. I've gone through it all with my own Multiple Sclerosis: re-learning to walk, learning to relate to my family and friends, managing pain and meds, working with a medical team, tackling clinical Depression, and helping others with similar chronic issues have been some of the most rewarding -- and challenging! -- times in my life. Oddly enough, I also work daily with athletes of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Embracing people of all ages, abilities, and communities is crucial to becoming a better global citizen. I moved back to the South Bay to help battle teen suicide through providing more safe spaces for our kids and adults to learn to cope and communicate. No one needs to suffer alone. Sometimes we need to learn how to reach out, either for help, or to help.
