Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD formerly known as ADD, is a neurobiological condition that consists of symptoms of inattention and/or hyperactivity that are significant enough to interfere with an individual’s functioning. While symptoms of this condition are evident in childhood, many adults have not received proper assessment and treatment.
I believe that seeking help is a sign of courage and strength. Striving to let go of suffering is courageous. Of course, many of our friends and family can be a great source of support, but they are not trained therapists nor are they unbiased. It is possible to feel better.
I am passionate about supporting older teens and adults through times of life transitions. These life phases can be full of both excitement and tremendous adjustment. I am experienced in assisting and advocating for people as they embrace their new identity and navigate challenges including depression or anxiety. At the heart of my practice is a deep commitment to helping clients feel more grounded in their own emotions.
As Elaine Aron, Ph.D., states in her work with highly sensitive people (HSP), "There is nothing wrong with high sensitivity. Sensitivity is an advantage in many situations and for many purposes, but not in other cases. Like having a certain eye color, it is a neutral, normal trait inherited by a large portion of the population, not the majority." Dr. Aron estimates that this trait s found in 15-20% of the population. I help HSPs understand their strength and true gift as an empath.
