About My Clients
As a Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C), I am uniquely trained in recognizing OCD symptoms in non-birthing partners, including biological fathers, non-binary parents, non-birthing mothers, adoptive parents and intended parents/parents via surrogacy.
My Background and Approach
As someone with lived experience with OCD, I am passionate about helping others through the anxiety and fear that overwhelm and grip us. My OCD became apparent during my perinatal period, a few short weeks after I gave birth to my son. For any parent, having those scary and intrusive thoughts can be terrifying. After learning how to resolve my symptoms, I trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT). We can discuss which method you believe will work for you when we meet. It may be a mix of them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We are all different, even when we share the same theme. Our job together is to identify your core theme, and build on what we believe will be achievable for you. I'm happy you are considering therapy! I'm proud of you already. The thoughts are scary, but you can do this! Throughout our time together, you will learn about different strategies, some of which I use myself. We will work together to identify what works for you to reach a less anxious, more fulfilling life.
