My Background and Approach
Shanon Cox, MA, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in working with pre-teens, adolescents, parents, and young adults. Shanon is experienced in helping those she works with through life transitions like moving, changing schools/jobs, and other changes in family or relationship situation. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of trauma, anxiety, and mild depression, as well as techniques and skill building for parenting, problem solving, behavior problems, and school/job related stress. Shanon strives to build a positive trusting relationship with each client to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for collaborative therapy. By looking at each client’s individual situation holistically and seeing the client as the expert in their lives, Shanon capitalizes on the client’s existing strengths to work towards their goals. She challenges clients, working with them to build skills and tools to approach life with hope and confidence.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My entire mission is to support you in reaching goals you set for yourself in whatever way fits you best. I approach this by getting to know you, working with you to develop your own goals and strengths, as well as offering suggestions on skill building and other techniques. I believe that each and every unique person deserves to be supported and encouraged. I strive to always create a safe and open space for my clients to explore whatever they have weighing on them in a non judgemental environment. I strongly believe that each person deserves to be who they most want to be, and to be loved and respected for this.
