Accepting Clients

I’m Shannon, a nurse of 17 years and couples and family therapist therapist in Shoreline, WA. I see folks in person- as I hate telehealth!

About My Clients

My clients might have been through a recent or distant loss they have not processed, they may have lost a child and aren't sure where to look or who to turn to, they may be struggling with infertility, they might be other helpers who are dealing with secondary trauma and burnout and want someone who understands that perspective, they might be living with cancer or caregiving for a loved one battling Leukemia, or they might be parents struggling to connect with their kids. I'm here for you!

My Background and Approach

I would never have known about therapy or counseling or wanted to provide this type of care if I had not first had the experience of sitting as a client in therapy myself. I am grateful for and appreciate the experiences in my life that have led me here, to my own practice. I have been a nurse in the greater Seattle area from almost 2 decades, mostly working in hospice, but with time in oncology and labor and delivery as well. Working with folks on both ends of the life spectrum is one of my favorites, and I’m consistently drawn toward the links between life and death. I don’t shy away from a hard conversation. I use a solution focused and praise oriented approach, weaving Bowen theory, intergenerational connections, and experiential techniques to help you gain insight and feel better about yourself and your life. If not working, I’m usually busy with my own family. As a wife and parent of two young kids, you can find me knee deep in the messiness and reality that is life :)

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My beliefs align with Virginia Satir's human validation process model- that all humans are geared toward growth if given the right conditions in which to do so. I believe that everyone is capable of change but that sometimes it can be hard to see. I also believe that death is harder to talk about than sex in our American/Western culture and I would like to change that by opening up the dialogue and create a space where end of life doesn't have to feel so scary and mysterious.
