About My Clients

Though access to everything and everyone seems to be at our fingertips 24/7, we feel more disconnected than ever - from others, our communities, the natural world, and our own deep Knowing. Not only adults, but our children are feeling anxious, depressed, stressed, and overwhelmed, and it can feel hard to know what to DO about it. I invite you to explore with me the ways talk therapy, artistic expression, and movement in nature can help tweens, teens, and young adults Connect Deeply.

My Background and Approach

I embrace a strengths-based and humanistic perspective, meaning: I strive to help others define and enhance their innate abilities to best meet and work through the challenges that inevitably arise in our lives. I view mental health holistically, taking into account emotional, cognitive, social, spiritual, physical, and environmental needs. I am deeply rooted in my profession's Code of Ethics, which (briefly) states that social workers: "enhance human well-being and help meet the basic human needs of all people; promote social justice and social change; are sensitive to cultural and ethnic diversity and strive to end discrimination, oppression, and other forms of social injustice." My professional experience began in 2006 and includes working with children/teens, adults, families, and groups in various settings, including: wilderness therapy, community-based therapy, therapeutic foster care, integrated healthcare, and outpatient mental health centers.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My core beliefs as a therapist and human in this world include: Everyone and everything is connected, and healthy connections (to self, others, community, natureā€¦) are vital for the wellness of all human beings (and all beings); Everyone deserves non-judgmental and compassionate spaces to become and be fully themselves; Our inner wisdom and the intelligence of our spiritual selves is valuable - everyone has the innate power to heal and grow; Young people are human beings deserving of understanding and care and their thoughts, feelings, and needs matter; Rural communities deserve equal access to quality health and healing services. I am committed to providing the best care I can to everyone I work with, as well as support to all of my community members in day to day life. To help with this, and to prevent unintentional harm or trauma, I seek out and attend trainings specifically to enhance my support of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC folks.
