I specialize in working with high achieving professionals, parents, and pregnant/postpartum moms!
Licensed Professional Counselor in Englewood, CO
I work with many pregnant and postpartum women and have children myself. With my oldest son I experienced postpartum anxiety and didn't realize it, and my hope is to educate and help women who are having difficulty after having a baby. Changing your life completely with the addition of a baby can be challenging, and much depends on how you are coping plus the temperment of your child. You can get support, it is hard, and I can help.
I have extensive training and experiencing helping adults process your grief reactions after loss. The grief process that occurs after loss is very normal, but also very painful to go through alone. I listen to your story and how your loss impacts you, and I hold a safe place for you to release your emotional pain. We discuss specific things you can to to get through your grief process, and I help you understand what you're feeling and why.
I have extensive training and experience in working with high achieving professionals, in helping you to manage your anxiety. I use primarily CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy, for working with anxiety as I believe this evidence-based treatment to be most effective with anxiety. We will work together to identify your negative or limiting beliefs, challenge them, and finally replace them with more positive thoughts so that you can find relief from your anxiety.
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) when working with someone that wants to change something. Maybe you want to change a habit, an addiction, or choices you are making and want to become a better version of yourself. MI helps me as a therapist elicit your internal motivation to change, as that remains more effective than someone else telling you to change. I have completed several trainings in MI and use it daily in my practice across a variety of situations.
Cognitive behavioral therapy, an evidence-based therapy, is my go-to approach for treating anxiety and depression. I help people discover the link between their thoughts and emotions, and then identify what thoughts they want to change and how to change them, resulting in less anxiety and negative thought processes. I have over 20 years's experience using CBT in a variety of settings and have completed several trainings in this orientation. I use it because it works.
I believe that you can use your therapy time for whatever you want to discuss, and I actively listen to what is bringing you in for counseling. I pay attention to not only the words you are using, but also to the underlying meaning underneath the words. I help you figure out what you want to say but aren't able to say and reflect that back to you in different ways, perhaps offering you a new perspective on your situation and goals.
