About My Clients

Everyone has a story to tell, but sometimes our own story can feel completely written and narrated out of our control, leading us to feel overwhelmed or helpless. My job is to empower you to put yourself back into the driver’s seat of your own life and own your unique story. Whether you are struggling with addiction, trauma, low self-worth, attachment issues, anxiety, or depression, I want you to know that therapy can help transform pain into growth and fulfillment.

My Background and Approach

I have 6 years of experience working in addiction and trauma work. My goal in treating addiction or any maladaptive behavior is to validate painful feelings while challenging the behavior. Together we can strengthen your inner voice to be more compassionate and curious as we explore how negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors have been attempting to protect you. I cater my therapeutic process to each individual utilizing a mix of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy. I treat trauma using a mix of talk therapy and a form of rapid eye movement therapy called ART to treat distressful memories. My approach is humanistic, empathetic, and mindful. I utilize the Gottman method for couples work. In addition, the client-therapist relationship is a unique one that is incredibly important to me, and I believe that trust and authenticity within this relationship sets a strong foundation for successful treatment.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am committed to serving adolescents, college-aged students, and adults cope through this current mental health crisis we are experiencing. I recall being an adolescent myself who benefitted from therapy and social support for my own mental health history. In terms of the addiction field, I have both a personal and professional relationship to understanding addiction and how the disease affects loved ones. Oftentimes the supporters of a person in recovery (or anyone with an illness) expend large amounts of emotional energy trying to support their loved one and forget how to take care of themselves. In addition, I have a commitment to challenging racial injustices. As a white female therapist, I practice self-awareness of my own power and privilege within the therapist-client relationship. I welcome and value conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion as my clients experience mental health issues largely impacted by experiences of marginalization and oppression.
