About My Clients
I work well with clients who are ready to do the work to heal and grow. The client and I are active throughout the counseling process. I have found that this process is a journey towards healing and thriving in all areas of life. Many of my clients have found themselves stuck in life. I help clients find what is keeping them stuck and develop the skills to overcome these barriers so they might heal and grow.
My Background and Approach
I have two decades of experience in working with various populations and environments within the mental health, medical health and social work fields. Additionally, I have been on my own mental health journey since I was a teenager. This journey brings a unique perspective since I am aware of what it is like to be a client. I use CBT and Schema Therapy to help clients identify and change irrational thought patterns and maladaptive beliefs so that they might target the root cause of mental illness and self-sabotage.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe counseling is a partnership in which we work together in developing and implementing a plan to reach the clients treatment goals. Each client is unique and different, and I adjust according to the clients needs. I find that authenticity and empathy are the two most important things for a counselor to possess. My goal is to provide a safe place for clients to grow and heal, and am always looking for ways to improve my ability to provide that. I have had my own personal struggles that I have overcame, and this is a factor that helps me truly understand the client.
