My Background and Approach
I'm Shanna Wilder, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Certified Holistic Sex Therapist with over 20 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate the most vulnerable terrain of their lives. I specialize in sex therapy, couples and intimacy work, infidelity recovery, desire discrepancy, sexual shame and trauma, and sexual dysfunction. My practice is kink-aware, non-monogamy affirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and non-binary inclusive- because everyone deserves care that doesn't require them to explain or justify who they are. My approach is direct, warm, and solution-focused. I'm not going to ask how something makes you feel seventeen times and send you home with nothing. I'm going to help you understand what's actually happening and give you real tools to change it. I see clients in person in Plano and Frisco, TX and virtually anywhere in Texas.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that sexuality and intimacy sit at the core of every human experience- and that the shame, silence, and misinformation surrounding them cause more unnecessary suffering than almost anything else I encounter in my work. I believe that every person deserves a therapeutic space where nothing about who they are, who they love, or how they love requires an apology or an explanation. Not their gender identity, not their relationship structure, not their desires, not their history. I believe that good therapy doesn't just hold space for your pain- it gives you something to do with it. Insight without tools is just expensive self-awareness. My job is to help you understand what's happening and then actually change it. I believe that the body and the mind are inseparable, and that healing one without attending to the other is incomplete work. I believe that humor belongs in the therapy room- that laughter breaks down walls that logic can't move, and that a therapist who can't laugh
