About My Clients
Are you going through an unexpected change where there's a clear line between what life was like before and what it's like now? Are you struggling to understand this new reality? You might be telling yourself "I can't wait for things to get back to normal." This thought might be comforting but is actually keeping you from moving forward. Maybe you're holding onto old behaviors, relationships, or feelings that used to help. Whatever has changed, what you've been doing just isn't working anymore.
My Background and Approach
I earned my PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Iowa State University in 2017, and my master's degree in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University in 2012. I draw from approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and other evidence-informed practices. I have worked with individuals, couples, adults, children, and families in a variety of clinical and community settings, including outpatient behavioral health, intensive outpatient treatment, family services, and child and family systems. Through our work together, you'll learn new skills to better cope with and incorporate what's changed into your new normal. You don’t have to wait for the "right time" or until you have the right words before reaching out. I'm here when you're ready no matter where you're at in your journey.
