About My Clients
My private practice is dedicated to working with minority and cultural-related stressors, gender-based violence and issues related to trauma, anxiety, and depression. Therapy is a safe and unbiased way to explore, process and reflect on your overall goals. Therapy provides a space to be yourself without judgement. Therapy can be a great catalyst for emotional support for a range of issues.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. I have a M.A.Ed. in Counseling graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. My specialty is in working with children, adolescents and adults. I am passionate about helping individuals of varying ages achieve peace in every situation, gaining insight and emotional wellness. My skill set involves a variety of techniques and modalities such as bibliotherapy, creative arts work, mindfulness and person-centered therapy. I specialize in working with children, teens and adults. My approach to therapy is Person-centered, meeting my client where they are, experiencing emotion with them and holding a space that is safe, nurturing and fosters a strong therapeutic alliance. I currently only accept the insurances listed and self-pay at this time. I can provide a receipt statement for insurance reimbursement if needed. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as an African American, female, Christian counselor. I am open to including as much or as little of my own identity into session. I am an active member in the therapy community, participating in the Virginia Counselor's Association and the Association for Play Therapy. I am active in researching and exploring new information associated with mental health, wellness and resources for my clients. In my free time, I enjoy sports, running and spending time with my family and dog.
