About My Clients
I have extensive training and experience working with children, adolescents and adults. My background has allowed me to work with a diverse range of needs, but traumatic stress is my primary focus. When working with children, I implement a child-centered and family-focused approach to help the child heal but also to support caregivers and to help the family grow closer together through the healing process. I also enjoy working with couples who want to learn together and grow closer.
My Background and Approach
I am trained in the following therapy models: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am familiar with the system that serves children who have experienced abuse. I am also able to address problematic sexual behaviors in children.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am strongly affirmative of LGBTQ clients. I hold awareness of my own privilege and biases, which I strive to frequently assess and improve. I have experience working with cultural minorities and fully embrace the fact that, although there are things I will never understand, I can still make the decision to embrace the discomfort and make a contribution towards the societal change that is long overdue. In my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My latest obsessions are Brad Mondo hair videos and Rudy Francisco’s poetry. I love music and art. I live to seize the joy that is offered by “the little things,” such as blowing bubbles with my daughter or enjoying a rare day of perfect autumn weather in Arkansas.
