About My Clients
I primarily work with individuals over the age of 16 who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship conflict and life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I am a Level 1 Trained Internal Family Systems Therapist and I offer sessions that help explore the inner world. I believe everyone has a Self and there can be healing when we learn how to access that and also get to know the other parts of us. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which I couple with psychotherapy. I believe that what has happened in the past plays a crucial role in how we handle things in the present and it often provides us a lot of insight to make those connections. When we do deep inner work it provides for a deeper level of understanding and healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and that the themes we see in the therapy room are ones that also play out in client's lives. I often use that as a tool to help with client’s growth. I use check-ins to make sure the relationship is one that both parties believe is aiding in growth. I believe in radical acceptance and I model that for my clients as they struggle through difficult topics such as body image, shame, guilt, and trauma. I use gender-affirming care for those that are transgender, non-binary, and those within the LGBTQIA+ Community. I firmly believe in body acceptance and that weight loss is never the goal of therapy. I acknowledge and validate the impacts that race, gender, and capitalism have on our experiences and understand that privilege that I carry as a white woman. The therapeutic process is an intimate one and can be extremely scary. I have deep compassion for those that choose to take that journey into the unknown.
