About My Clients
My clients are typically folks of color, students, or mothers who are seeking a provider that understands and will ask questions when they don't. My clients also appreciate a social worker perspective which addresses the whole person and the systems around them. Are you thinking about giving therapy a try? Are you looking for a provider with similar life experience, or the ability to understand where you are from and how this affects your life today? If so, feel free to connect with me.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master of Social Work from California State University, Northridge during the pandemic. I've worked with individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds at various social, educational, and clinical settings for 10 years. In my practice, I consistently strive to provide feedback informed care so that you feel good about your care. I have experience in CBT, Trauma-Informed Care, and often utilize Seeking Safety in my work with others. Also, I use cultural humility to really understand where the person is coming from, what their needs are, and how to best support them on their journey towards meeting their treatment goals. As a former client myself, I believe in providing cultural and gender affirming care while building a safe, trusting relationship that leads to your empowerment and growth. It might also be helpful for you to know that ADHD is a lived experience for me, especially if this is an area you have questions about.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a child born to immigrants from Mexico, I am passionate about normalizing mental health treatment and improving accessibility to mental health care for all, especially for folks of marginalized intersectionalities. My own experience with therapy began after I had been a victim of domestic violence. Through my own therapy, I learned more about the symptoms that came from the trauma, how to cope with them, and how to maintain my mental wellness so that I could move forward so my past would no longer have control over me. My ability to overcome was directly related to having a safe space and someone to witness my experiences, and I want you to feel the same freedom and empowerment that I experience every day. In my free time, I enjoy watching Netflix and playing Nintendo Switch with family and friends. Prior to the pandemic, I volunteered at election polls, helped with my local homeless count, and served as a mental health advocate twice at youth events hosted by the LA LGBT Center.
