About My Clients
We work with adolescents, adults & family units. DBT can help those suffering with: PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorders, Self Harm, Panic Attacks, Impulsivity and Emotional Regulation, as well as Personality Disorders, and those with a history of failed treatments or attempts at therapy.
My Background and Approach
Shaelene Lauriano Kite, LPC, DBT-LBC, RYT, ACS received her Master’s in Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey and has continued to immerse herself on the path of learning and teaching. Shaelene was first introduced to Dialectical Behavior Therapy in 2009 while working in an adolescent residential treatment facility. Since then, she went on to work for a women’s trauma program where she was formally trained in the model in 2013. Then, in 2017, Shaelene obtained status as a DBT-Linehan Board Certified Clinician and is one of only ten with this status in the state of New Jersey. In 2018, Shaelene opened DBT of South Jersey, a comprehensive counseling practice staffed by a team of 16 extraordinary clinicians, all of whom are DBT trained Therapists.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I specialize in treating women that struggle with trauma, ongoing depression, not feeling "enough" in their various roles they take on in life, and emotion dysregulation. My goal for clients is to help them one day become their own therapist and learn to implement what we spend time on during our time together. While I am no longer taking on new clients, if you reach out, I will connect you to one of our exceptional team members here at DBT of South Jersey. In addition to treating clients, I also work as a clinical supervisor to help clinicians strengthen their skills as they work towards licensure, as well as help them work towards DBT certification.
