About My Clients
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, adolescents, families, groups, and members of the LGBTQ+ community in areas such as stress, depression, anxiety, multicultural issues, transitions, self-esteem, problem-solving, disordered eating, and trauma/PTSD.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in CPS, school counseling, eating disorders and private practice. I am a client centered therapist and tailor sessions to meet the specific needs of the client. In sessions we may engage in modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Reality Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic Therapy, and Solution Focused therapies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was born in New Orleans into a traditional, Christian, African American family that didn't believe in getting help for mental health and felt that it wasn't for us. This isn't abnormal thinking for Black families and other families of color; a lot of trauma and the effect of that trauma goes untreated, and thus, is passed down through each generation. I pursued counseling so that I can show my community that therapy is for everyone no matter what you look like or where you come from. I want to help others break negative patterns and live healthy lives.
