I approach treating depression from a cognitive, behavioral and interpersonal lens. I will support you in changing unhealthy habits, challenging the thoughts that support your depression, and help strengthen supportive relationships. Above all, I approach my work with depression from a human to human standpoint. I've experienced depression - and know it sucks!

I am LGBTQ+ identified, and have extensive experience working with those who are sexual and gender diverse. That includes work with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and pansexual clients, and trans clients. I have helped clients clarify their identities and make moves towards affirming their identities from the inside out.

I bring knowledge of attachment theory and communication strategies to support you in improving relationships. I have worked with many client's individually who are in couples therapy, and who have partner's unwilling to go to couples therapy.

Acceptance... a word with a horrible connotation. Acceptance in the therapeutic sense often means acknowledgement. Acknowledging that we have depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and trauma. It does not mean we have to like it or approve of it. Through acknowledging the feelings and thoughts that we do have, we can move towards the life we want to live. In ACT, that usually means learning skills to 'acknowledge', identify the life we want to live, and take steps towards that life.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy is rooted in the idea that thoughts lead to feelings, which lead to behavior. I have training to help you understand and challenge your thoughts in a way that supports the life you want to live. I use CBT with depression and anxiety disorders, and sometimes with trauma.

I teach clients the core DBT skills that fit into 4 different modules. Mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. I find these skills are helpful for almost anyone, and they're certainly helpful if you are struggling with unregulated emotions and relationship difficulties.
