About My Clients

You might feel disconnected in your relationship, stuck around intimacy, or unsure how to communicate what you need. Or you're a high performer—driven, successful—yet something in your inner life or relationships isn't keeping pace. I work with individuals and couples navigating sexuality, emotional connection, and personal growth, including LGBTQ+ clients and non-traditional relationship structures. If you're ready to close the gap between how you live and how you want to live, let's talk.

My Background and Approach

I'm Sean Orpen, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT-S) and AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor (CST-S) based in Seattle. I hold a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University and have nearly two decades of experience with individuals, couples, and diverse relational structures. My practice draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, EMDR, Attachment Science, and Polyvagal Theory—always sex-positive and trauma-informed. I work best with people ready to move—not just talk. Whether you're navigating intimacy and sexuality, rebuilding connection in a relationship, or a high-achiever looking to close the gap between external success and inner fulfillment, our work will be focused and grounded in real evidence. Therapy with me is collaborative and direct. You'll find warmth and curiosity, but also structure and accountability—because insight without action rarely creates change.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I grew up in British Columbia, shaped by forests, open skies, and a family legacy rooted in Ukrainian resilience and military discipline. Those roots gave me a deep respect for strength, story, and the courage it takes to face challenges. I believe therapy works best when it's honest—which means I'll meet you with warmth, but I won't shy away from directness. I try to create a space where people feel genuinely seen, regardless of their background, identity, or the complexity of what they're carrying. I have a lot of respect for people who show up and do this work. In my experience, most people who seek therapy aren't broken—they're stuck, or searching, or ready for something different. That's something we can work with. Change is possible, and I've seen it happen in ways that genuinely surprise people. If you value a therapist who brings both clinical rigor and real human presence to the work—someone who will take you seriously and stay curious alongside you—I'd love to connect.
