About My Clients

You may have spent years learning how to be “good,” “responsible,” “impressive,” “dependable.” You may not have learned how to be yourself. You know how to work hard, meet expectations, and take care of what needs to be done. Maybe you’ve built a life that looks successful to others, but privately you feel exhausted, anxious, and disconnected from life. You may struggle to rest without guilt or know what you want when there’s no clear expectation to meet. In therapy, you don't have to perform.

My Background and Approach

My approach is primarily psychodynamic and somatic. Together, we explore what is happening in your life now alongside patterns that have developed over time, including how stress and emotion are experienced in the body. I also draw from cognitive approaches, mindfulness, and other practices when helpful for your needs and goals. I bring a PhD in literature to my clinical work. My doctoral research explored the relationship between the study of the nervous system and the development of literary character, reflecting a longstanding interest in how inner life takes shape through both story and the body. I remain interested in the stories we carry—the meanings and assumptions that shape how we understand ourselves, our relationships, and what we believe is possible. This perspective informs my curiosity about the ways our inner lives are shaped by both experience and the narratives we develop to make sense of them.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe therapy works best as a collaborative process grounded in curiosity, compassion, and genuine connection. Together, we can make space to understand what has shaped you and discover new ways of responding that feel more intuitive, connected, and alive. My clinical training has included work with adults and adolescents from diverse backgrounds in community-based settings, including individual psychotherapy in East Harlem and trauma-informed case management with asylum seekers on the Lower East Side. My somatic work is informed by training in Somatic Experiencing and by longstanding personal work in this approach. I bring this body-based perspective together with psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness practice, and other approaches as appropriate to the person sitting across from me. I welcome clients of all identities, backgrounds, and life experiences. I am licensed in New York and New Jersey.
