About My Clients
It's common to find ourselves stuck or overwhelmed. We've learned to neglect ourselves, our needs, and feel unable to call upon others when we need help. Many of us battle with feelings of shame and speak to ourselves in a critical voice. I believe this often comes from past wounding that drives us further away from our true, authentic self. When we can learn how to care for ourselves in the way we needed in the past, we can shift our beliefs of ourselves and who we are in relation to others.
My Background and Approach
I've worked with people in all ranges of care from residential treatment to outpatient care. Clients I work with are often seeking relief from various forms of addiction, trauma, and mental health issues. I'm trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT)Therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and multiple forms of Experiential Therapy including Sand Tray and Psychodrama. While I don't engage in "Buddhist Therapy", I incorporate a lot of Buddhist Psychology as a framework in which to view thoughts and the mind. I view therapy as a way to help clients empower themselves to make the changes they wish to see in their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is deserving of care and love and that this often starts with the way that we treat ourselves. This includes the way in which we engage with therapy because, if we're not careful, we can use our struggles and difficulties as a way to shame ourselves into believing that the only way we'll be deserving of love is if we change or become "better". I don't discriminate against anyone and I believe that everyone needs a place for themselves. Therapy can be a place to start building that for yourself.
