About My Clients

Most of my work with clients involves tackling depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. I see clients who are adolescents and older from all types of diverse backgrounds.

My Background and Approach

Hi, my name is Dr. Scott Su and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. As a psychotherapist I try and employ a flexible style suitable to the needs of each person. Whether you're looking to overcome current challenges, interested in addressing past traumas, or simply eager to learn more about yourself, I intend to meet you where you're at. Ultimately, my goal is to create an open and nonjudgmental space that fosters trust and collaboration. My professional style has led me to espouse a client centered approach that aims to uniquely understand each person. I try and ask questions that garner novel perspectives and that enable clients to examine patterns in their lives. In addition, I integrate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I'm a big proponent of the notion that insight and understanding precedes change. I try and help clients learn more about themselves, which in turn enables them to be the catalyst for the change they are seeking. I also find that it's vitally important for us to fully process and validate the experiences we've been through- both good and bad. We've become a society that's adept at distracting ourselves from our pain when what we really need is to fully be present and compassionate with it. It's through this that we're able to accept what has happened and derive wisdom from it.
