About My Clients
Society places several stereotypes on various groups of people only to be adopted by these individuals which causes a deformed sense of self-worth. I look forward to working with clients who want to change societies perspective of them from being deemed as "unworthy", to a greater sense of self-worth. I love seeing client's find their motivation to make a change to create a more self-fulfilling idea of them self which empowers me as a therapist when that strength is found and creates change.
My Background and Approach
I like to see myself as a nonjudgmental person that strives to help others find their true sense of self-worth. As a gay man in recovery myself, I can understand how the darkness of our past creates self-doubt. I try to help client's move past that "stuck-ness" to create a new narrative of what happiness looks like for them. I take situations that have been hard to accept and help client's see these situations in different perspectives that allows them to move forward rather than holding them back. I like to help client's keep from putting too much focus on the past and try to redirect their attention to what can be done "NOW". It all starts with the ability to find and use that sense of strength that has been isolated inside for so long.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are all products of our experiences but as human beings we have the ability to decide how these experiences affect us as individuals. We often become too focused on our prior mistakes. This stuck-ness can lead to thinking in ways that are limiting and pathologizing, and ultimately can constrict our choices and daily living. By overcoming the initial thought of not being good enough we can successfully take the steps to create a life that we are proud to display.
