About My Clients
My ideal client is a child, adolescent, or young adult who wants to work on life issues. I have always known that I have a passion for kids but through private practice I have discovered a love for working with teens, especially female teens and young -adult women. I feel fully confident in my ability to treat trauma, childhood issues, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
My Background and Approach
I currently work part time as a mental health counselor in a school, at an inpatient facility, and a local ER and do private practice on the side. My specialty is with children and young adults. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, substance use, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADD/ADHD, behavioral issues, attachment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and more. I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults who are struggling with identity, sexuality and coming of age issues. I also love working with young women who have experienced sexual assault, harassment or physical abuse. I specialize in EMDR which is a trauma therapy that is ideal for chronic pain, depression, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, addictions, and phobias. I also offer cognitive behavior therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, parent management training (oregon model), and talk therapy and motivational interviewing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I view myself as a safe, open minded, and non-judgemental person. I was raised Christian and continue to love Jesus, however will never force my beliefs on someone or bring them into session if that is not wanted. I consider myself an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and work diligently to be culturally aware. I am open about my passion for the Black Lives Matter movement and will always protest for the rights of human beings as I view it as a necessity for any social worker. I believe you cannot work harder than your client however sometimes we do need to go above and beyond for them and this is something I am passionate about.
