About My Clients

The thing I appreciate the most about working with people is the opportunity to witness the resiliency of the human spirit. One can have experienced or be faced with extremely difficult times yet can continue to move forward and persevere. I have a desire to help more women, minorities, and under served communities address their mental health needs. We all can benefit from taking care of our mental health. This is an area that I feel doesn't get enough attention and I hope to help change that.

My Background and Approach

I graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College with a Masters in Social Work degree in 2006. I have 13+ years in the mental health field, providing direct therapeutic services. Some of my areas of focus are trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, bereavement, stress, life transitions, and women's issues. I am trained in several treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral, Interpersonal, Client-Centered, Solution-Focused, and integrative and will draw from each of them to fit your needs. I believe it is imperative that you and I work together to identify your treatment goals. You are the expert on you, I am only here to assist. I tend to be open, supportive, and encouraging, while also providing gentle reality feedback if I think it may be beneficial to you. Everyone's needs are different so you and I can discus what approach you believe will be more helpful. The look forward to partnering with you on your journey of healing, self discovery, and progress.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I firmly believe that all people should be treated equally. I also believe that all should be given the same opportunities to live, grow, and love. Being a woman of mixed raced heritage (Black and White), equality is a cause that is close to my heart. I believe that everyone should have the same opportunities in life. This also is an important conversation in regards to mental health and how it is addressed. Mental health is not focused on in many communities and this is a huge disservice. If the mental health needs of all people were addressed, this would greatly benefit society as a whole.
