About My Clients

I help college students who struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, and impostor syndrome. Despite being helpers with big hearts who pour into others, life feels hard. When they first reach out to me, they are tired of feeling anxious. They often say that they sometimes aren’t even sure if they really need therapy because they are getting by in life. Their professors, classmates, and friends all think that they are okay, but inside they feel overwhelmed, stressed, and self-conscious.

My Background and Approach

I have a background working in higher education, and over a decade of experience working with college students. I have a master’s degree in counseling from a CACREP accredited university, and am a National Board Certified Counselor through the NBCC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan and have been in private practice since 2018. I am deeply passionate about social justice, and welcome clients of all identities. Due to my background and experience, I exclusively work with college students. I primarily utilize Solution Focused Brief Therapy which is a strengths based approached that allows clients to identify strategies that feel right for them and allows them to meet their unique goals. This approach helps people who feel stuck in their problems begin to feel empowered by their skills. This approach is motivating and often helps clients achieve the lasting change they are seeking.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am an animal lover who enjoys spending my free time trying new plant based recipes. I am very evidence based and strongly believe in science. I am a sceptic of pseudoscience and professionals who discuss things outside of their scope. I am deeply passionate about social justice, and welcome clients of all identities. I genuinely believe that you are the expert of your own life and refrain from telling my clients what to do; instead I utilize therapeutic questioning to assist my clients in turning inward and identifying solutions that are aligned with their own values and goals. Prior to the pandemic I was an avid volunteer in my community and am eager to get back to it once it's safe to do so. I value empathy, and compassion, and work hard to practice that on a daily basis.
