About My Clients

Many of my clients come in wanting to address anxiety and depression, but I have additional expertise in working with trauma, addiction, ADHD, and parenting. I also love working with nurses, physicians, therapists, and others in healthcare, as well as parents, college students, attorneys, and individuals in non monogamous relationships.

My Background and Approach

My style is authentic, non-judgemental, and open. My background as a social worker helps me to address and explore the systems that clients live in and how that affects them. I like to problem solve and find practical solutions to help people improve functioning, but also love to delve deeper and address more deep rooted patterns. The one thing that I see consistently is the theme of trauma that my clients have experienced and the difficulty they had because they weren’t given the skills to handle it. As a result, my theoretical orientation is eclectic, as I think flexibility is essential to working with individuals who have a wide range of needs. The theories and treatment techniques that I use the most are CBT, Adlerian theory, empowerment theory, solution focused theory, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and The Daring Way™.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that people are resilient, but that we heal best in community. Most people can identify what Big T Traumas are, but so many have also experienced what we call Little t traumas, which can include bullying, emotional abuse, toxic work environments and families, loss of friendships, or non-life-threatening injuries. We can heal by working together to find self compassion and acceptance in order to eventually feel whole and self reliant. I am someone who has always fought for the underdog. Even as a child, I identified with people who weren't part of the mainstream. Being a social worker seems like it was inevitable for me; I resonate fully with the ethical principles of service, social justice, dignity and worth of each person, and the importance of human relationships. I believe that Black lives matter, science is real, love is love, no human is illegal, and women's rights are human rights.
