About My Clients
Working with the queer community is at the center of my heart. Specifically, queer couples and/or families who are navigating (the mostly uncharted!) territory of parenthood. When I combine my passion for the queer community with my specialized couple’s therapy techniques and my internationally recognized pre-and-postnatal training, a unique and powerful style of therapy emerges. My Background and Approach
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University. I have specific training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman’s Couples Therapy, Perinatal Support International (PSI), Clinical Military Counseling (CCMC), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Advanced Group Structure, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. I have presented research at two professional counseling conferences (so far!). I am a nationally recognized board certified counselor (NCC) and am licensed to practice counseling in the state of North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
On a more personal note, I adore Western North Carolina and am proud to call these mountains my home. I’ve always been a bit of a wanderer until landing in these Appalachian Mtns. They are magical! I adore hiking, backpacking, camping, canoeing, and white water rafting all throughout Appalachia. I am a Wilderness First Responder and I sincerely find my peace when I am outside near trees, streams, lakes, and while stacking rocks. I love baking, swinging in hammocks, and am still in awe watching my children explore the wilderness of WNC. My free time is spent with my wonderful & supportive wife, our gorgeous & funny kiddos, and our loving family (framily!). I tend to lean toward a holistic outlook on therapy. So, when you come see me, I will personalize a treatment plan that looks to help heal a variety of areas in your life. Together we will delve into your emotional, spiritual, and physical health to find the areas in need. Together we will travel the journey toward wholeness.
