About My Clients
I started my career working with people who have disabilities, and thoroughly enjoy working with this population. When I moved to SC in 2020, I transitioned into clinical mental health services and I took an interest in providing trauma-informed services. I specialize working with people who have been through traumatic situations, those who have anxiety and/or depression related disorders, ADHD, and/or people going through hard life adjustments such as break ups, job loss, relocations, etc.
My Background and Approach
I like for therapy to feel like a two-way conversation. I am very down-to-earth, and try to approach therapy in a way that feels natural. I pull from different therapy techniques based on the client's need. Top therapy styles that I use would include, Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness practices. I will always provide a warm and non-judgmental space for my clients. In the same breath, I want clients to know I will challenge cognitive dissonance and unhelpful thinking patterns. When providing feedback, I use those moments as an opportunity to teach clients practical skills.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Even as a small child, I was always interested in trying to understand people and empathize with their struggles. I actually believe most counselors are born this way. To be a helper, is almost innate for us. Theorist believe that children have black and white thinking until adolescence, yet I have seen the shades of gray in life as early as I can remember. By this, I am saying that I know everyone has their own independent challenges and reasons for what makes them who they are. I truly believe we all are doing the best we can with what life has provided us. This is why I love to hear each individual's story and help people recover from mental health symptoms in a way that is tailored to that person's needs. I'm a committed helper in the mental health community.
