About My Clients

Healing work is like learning to walk again. It’s hard, uncomfortable, and wobbly. You will fall over and over, but the point is that you aren’t learning to walk alone. Life is hard, and I believe that as your therapist, I will go alongside you in your journey so that you can learn to walk again on your own. I believe every person is unique and desires self-fulfillment, and I hope to aid individuals in reaching their personal goals of healing and growth.

My Background and Approach

I have experience working with clients ranging from ages 6 to 75 with presenting issues of depression, grief, anxiety, eating disorder (purging), suicidal ideation, financial difficulties, health management, relationship management, medication management, PTSD, complex grief, and religious trauma. I use trauma-focused care, incorporating mindfulness-based techniques into my work. I seek to provide you with coping skills to help you feel prepared to handle the world when not in the therapy room. I assess for past traumas and experiences that affect current functioning. I use psychoeducation to inform you of the ways that thoughts and feelings are interconnected, restructuring faulty thought patterns, and finding ways to curtail negative thinking. I will also help you to identify distressful feelings within the body, emphasizing the mind-body connection to identify triggers.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe every person has an individual perspective shaped and molded by personal experiences and the world around them. Because of this, I believe every person is unique and desires self-fulfillment, and I hope to aid individuals in reaching their personal goals of healing and growth. I believe that at some point in life, you have not been heard, understood, or validated, and that experience has shaped how you approach problems in life. I believe in helping to build my client's self-esteem and working collaboratively to find the areas to make them stronger. I believe strongly in attachment theory and the ways in which our childhood impacts our current functioning in adulthood. When not in the therapy room, you can find me on the couch watching a well-written series with my 12-year-old poodle Bentley, trying a new eatery, or in a hammock with my partner. I am a fan of fun and adventure. Travel is my middle name. I also dabble in doodling from time to time.
