About My Clients
I counsel individuals, ages 12 and up. Cognitive Processing Therapy is helpful for anyone with PTSD or who has survived domestic abuse or sexual abuse. Dancing Mindfulness is helpful for releasing trauma from the body. Dancing Mindfulness is also a way to engage in meditation that involves music and movement. My clients have processed grief, depression, and anxiety, and learned helpful ways to overcome the obstacles of having ADHD.
My Background and Approach
I did my internship at a domestic violence shelter. In addition to individual sessions, I led groups in learning to define and uphold boundaries, and a processing group for adult survivors of domestic violence. I take part in the 12 step group called Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families and share that knowledge with clients, especially how to reparent one's inner child. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in sessions, and I tend to send articles to clients through email after sessions so they can dive deeper into a topic they shared.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community and I support Black Lives Matter and racial reconciliation. I have helped a church learn more about how to address racial reconciliation using the Widening the Circle of Concern curriculum from the Unitarian Universalist Association.
