My approach is warm, gentle and meets you where you are, as you are. I engage somatic techniques to support body connection and weave mindfulness-based skills throughout my work in sessions to support clients' personal awareness and safety. As a woman living in a larger body in recovery from an eating disorder I also intimately understand many of the unique challenges fat folks experience when healing body image and reconnecting with the body's innate wisdom.
Body liberation and fat acceptance are at the core of my work. I believe we should all be accepted and honored in our bodies, at all sizes. Often when we discuss body size it is linked to many untrue assumptions about health. I am aligned with the Health at Every Size perspective and believe that we can't determine anything about a person's health by looking at their body. I find it's also important to highlight that health is not a moral issue, no one owes anyone else their health; health status doesn't determine whether someone deserves respect and dignity. I'm fully committed to expanding my knowledge and understanding of how to best support other folks in larger bodies. That being said, I also want to acknowledge that there are many overlapping and intersecting layers of oppression and marginalization that folks experience based on their identities. You are the expert in your own life experience and I hope to earn your trust with time to support your journey.
