About My Clients
I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck, often asking, "Is this really it?" My prior career in technology startups gives me a unique lens for sitting with technology workers, entrepreneurs, and academics. I am particularly attuned to the needs of busy having it all- working parents. I connect with couples who feel stuck having the same arguments or sticking points (mental load anyone?) or where one or both partners shut down in conflict.
My Background and Approach
Our work begins by creating a shared framework of understanding around what is working for you and what is not-- and identifying what protective behavior may be keeping you from feeling content or reaching your goals. My treatment approach is rooted in mindfulness, parts work, somatics (our body has a lot of information for us), EMDR, and heavy helpings of education and humor. If you've experienced therapy before and wondered what exactly it was you were doing and if it is actually helpful, I get that and . We talk about the what, the how, and the why. I utilize PACT, the psychobiological approach to couples therapy for relationship work. It's an amazing fit if, like me, you didn't get a handbook (or clear model) on what exactly a healthy relationship looks or feels like. The PACT approach offers a user manual for relationships, and a method to make the manual for your relationship, your partner, and yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Prior to becoming a therapist, I had a ten-plus-year career in the high-growth technology startup ecosystem. Yes, we can talk about Jira tickets, being on call, your feelings about AI, and that equity is 0% of 0, until it's not. I am passionate about doing the work of social justice and actively invested in continuing to explore and liberate myself and my work from oppressive systems and their beliefs. I strive to offer a therapeutic approach that is decolonized and queer, and am dedicated to the ongoing self-work, education, and pursuit of resources and mentorship to do so. I come to the work of mental health care following many years of healing, self-exploration, and growth. I believe in therapy because of the impact it has had on me and it is an honor to have the opportunity to now share that with others. I have and meet with a therapist regularly today.
