About My Clients
I often work with children and families. I also have experience with adults and am growing in my experience with teens/adolescents. I enjoy working with clients who are looking for support with self-advocacy or changing their relationship dynamics to better meet the needs of all involved in the relationship. I am neurodiversity-affirming, body positive, and LGBTQIA2S+-affirming.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed mental health counselor with 5 years of experience working with children and families. I have a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University in Seattle and am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Washington. I have training in infant mental health and other attachment-focused therapies, CBT, somatic therapies, and play therapy. I have primarily worked with neurodiverse clients and their families/caregivers in my career. I am active as a therapist and have the capacity to be directive or non-directive in session. I encourage my clients to be active participants in their own healing, with an end goal of empowering them to create lasting change in their lives. My initial focus is the creation of a trusting relationship with clients, as I believe that is the foundation of effective counseling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people exist in connection with others. As a counselor, my goal is to build each client's internal capacity for change and to support the growth of their support system. My style is very playful and relationship-focused, even in individual counseling. I believe in the power of your own unique story in forming how you walk through your world. My work with neurodiverse clients and families stems from my own experience with my neurodiverse sibling. I have personal experience navigating long-term care planning as well as the complex impact of high-need family members on the overall family system/dynamic.
