About My Clients
My clients might be wondering why they are filled with self-doubt, negative self-talk, insecurities, anxiety, depression. Maybe they are angry at themselves for not being able to control these things. They might be having difficulty connecting with others or themselves. Perhaps they are aware of some past trauma that is unresolved and they are looking for healing.
My Background and Approach
I am trained in and frequently use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), parts work and somatic techniques. I take a holistic approach, which means I draw from multiple theories and models, some of which are feminist and client-centered.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Living in this world can be meaningful, beautiful and also quite painful and so I strive to offer the most gentle trauma therapy I can by centering your needs in every moment. I respect, honor and affirm any expression of gender, spirituality, or identity. I consider myself a trauma therapist in the most e x p a n s i v e definition of that term. When we experience trauma or ongoing painful experiences, it sometimes teaches us to believe something limiting, negative and UNTRUE about ourselves. I want to find out what those beliefs are and what happened to convince you of them. And then we can work toward choosing what you believe, how you make meaning, so you can live your life closer to your true values. Maybe you can even start to treat yourself with the kindness and compassion you currently reserve for others.
