About My Clients
Many clients come to me after they've had their own kids and realize all the ways that their own childhood is showing up in how they are parenting. They are snapping quicker than they want, consumed with anxiety, and/or paralyzed with burnout. They secretly wonder if they just aren't cut out to be a parent or are the only ones having such a hard time. First, you're not alone! Together we can work on healing the past so that you can parent with calmness, clarity, and confidence.
My Background and Approach
I want you to know that I get it. I am a mom of three and struggled with my own adjustment to parenthood. I experienced postpartum anxiety that went undiagnosed and turned into postpartum depression. My own experience is what inspired me to help other parents going through the same thing. I decided to pursue EMDR training after hearing so many clients say that they "understood logically" what they knew to true but couldn't get to an emotional place where they actually believed it (for example, that "I'm a good mom" or "I'm not messing up my kids"). EMDR has truly been a game changer in helping many people overcome what they've been working on for years in talk therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the goodness of people. After being a therapist for over 15 years, I understand that even our ugliest, most unappealing parts have positive intent. I truly believe in the brain's healing power and am constantly blown away by the strength and resilience of my clients. A little about me personally - I have 3 kids and they have taught me more about myself than any therapy has (IYKYK). I seek out my own therapy because I believe in doing the work myself. I am a die hard Commanders fan even though they let me down season after season. I love dogs and have a Lab/Mastiff mix, Stella. I love working out but also can be found eating cookie butter straight out of the jar. Life is about balance, right? If you think we could be a good fit, reach out!
