About My Clients
My clients consider themselves driven achievers who find themselves stuck with worry, doubt & unwanted intrusive thoughts. Chronic rumination, avoidance, and challenges coping with uncertainty are the most common concerns my clients have. Many report their worlds getting smaller as they avoid more situations. These symptoms of anxiety can be overwhelming. They can disrupt emotional and physical wellbeing or interfere with relationships, self-esteem, and the ability to focus or perform optimally.
My Background and Approach
It has been reported that it takes several years on average for individuals with OCD to get effective care. As a therapist, I hope to bridge the gap in treatment for those seeking help for OCD and related concerns. I studied Psychology and Spanish as an undergraduate, then earned master degrees in Bicultural and Bilingual Studies and in Community Counseling. In my practice, I take a collaborative, goal-oriented approach. I first seek connection so I can understand where each client is coming from what is most concerning to them. I use evidence-based interventions and have completed extensive trainings for the treatment of anxiety, OCD and Body-Dysmorphic Disorder. I utilize methods to help individuals recognize what keeps them stuck in the anxiety cycle and learn how to respond to and face their fears with self-compassion, confidence, and a little humor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I seek to meet individuals where they are, and believe that clients are their own experts in their lives. I recognize the importance of being culturally competent and reflect on my impact as a therapist. I regularly seek out continuing education opportunities that support anti-racist, LGBTQ allied, and HAES aligned values in therapy. I aim to develop a goal-oriented, non-judgmental environment where clients can cope with challenges, make space for a little humor, and make meaningful adjustments in their lives.
