Sarah Dolaty (She/her)

I have worked the past 5 years in schools and after-school programs focused on youth and adolescent social-emotional development. I specialize in adolescent and youth anxiety and depression, trauma, autism spectrum disorders, and social issues.

I focused my clinical master's degree on trauma-informed care and trauma responsive care in community settings. I have also worked at the Trauma Center in Boston, Massachusetts under leading trauma therapists and have a strong clinical understanding of how trauma affects the mind and body.

As a second generation immigrant from an Iranian family I have come to learn first hand of the complications and frustrations of immigration and of the cultural biases that can come to exist in American society. I have studied at University of Amsterdams program specializing in the immigration and integration of immigrants and refugees in the summer of 2018.

A large portion of the work I lead in schools has focused on counseling and teaching students how to manage social situations and academic frustrations. I've instructed and coaches adolescent groups in a variety of topics including self-esteem and self-worth, managing anxiety and study skills, and psychoeducational trauma groups.

In the work I have led as a clinician a large portion has been focused on cognitive behavioral therapy. With the younger students we demonstrate visually the mind-body connection. We have read-alouds, short video clips, and games and activities, and drawings all focused on how we are in control of the thoughts we let enter our mind, the feelings we let enter our heart, and the actions we conduct with our body. With adolescents we foster these same skills through discussions and group activities.

I am trained in trauma focused cognitive based therapy and have been certified as a trauma-based clinical social worker. I am particularly knowledgable on the impact of complex trauma on the mind, body, and soul. I have led workshops on trauma responsive classrooms in school settings as well.
