About My Clients
My clients are often young adults (18-30ish) who are navigating anxiety, religious trauma, disordered eating and/or eating disorders, and life transitions. I have a specialization in college populations and enjoy working with students of all ages! Even if this doesn't describe you, reach out! I'd love to chat and see if we could be a good fit.
My Background and Approach
I am a graduate of the University of North Georgia where I received my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in College Populations and Student Affairs. Prior to the University of North Georgia, I attended Georgia College and State University where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Creative Art Therapies. I utilize multiple counseling theories but at my core I am a Person-Centered therapist with influences from Existential, Cognitive Behavioral, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral, third-wave Feminist theory, and Internal Family Systems (parts work). I am a laid back therapist that encourages my clients to practice choice and autonomy in sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My goal as a therapist is to create a non-judgmental and empowering environment where you feel comfortable and supported. I believe in a collaborative therapeutic relationship where your best interests are the focus. I believe that therapy is the client's space and therefore the client gets to decide how we spend our time together. I also recognize that this can be challenging at first and am there to help navigate where to start. I believe taking a systemic and sociological view of our lived experiences is vital (given the society that we live in) and it can ultimately help us understand ourselves even more because we are a part of a larger society.
