About My Clients
I tend to work with people who struggle with life direction, burn out, motivation, intrusive thoughts, overwhelm, rumination, disconnection, and a variety of other life concerns. I use a variety of mind-body techniques, focusing on self-exploration and awareness, acceptance and mindfulness, challenging assumptions, developing skills and values, connecting with one's body, and making space for healing.
My Background and Approach
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a double major in psychology and philosophy, and my masters degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Social Work with a focus on mental and behavioral health. I've been working in the mental health field for about ten years, supporting a variety of populations in a number of different settings, including hospitals, group homes, residential treatment centers, in-home therapy, and individual telehealth therapy. I utilize a variety of approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and elements Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and parts work to treat a variety of conditions, including general and specific anxieties, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, grief, and complex trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach is active and compassionate; I believe that, while deep insight and healing take time, you shouldn't have to spend years in therapy to feel the change in your life that you need. I maintain that you are the authority on your own life and experience, and will meet you where you are without judgment.
