About My Clients
I work with clients who are struggling with themselves in some way. Perhaps trying to stop anxiety from running away with them. Perhaps trying to find meaning in what is happening to them and how to manage it. Perhaps fighting their body on weight, shape, or food. I want to end that struggle by building tools to discern and meet needs, replace negative and self-critical thoughts, and support healthier, compassionate beliefs about the self and the world around them.
My Background and Approach
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, working to identify and change your inner experience and by doing so, change your lived experience, as well as Self-Compassion and Mindfulness tools- becoming a gentle and nurturing presence for yourself instead of another threat. I have worked over my career to build these tools to help clients find their own mind and way. My goal is for my clients to trust themselves and feel satisfied and confident in their lives. I work collaboratively with my clients to understand what is driving them, develop awareness of their needs and wants, and how they can proceed to meet them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we each have the ability to accept and develop our worlds with self-compassion, insight, and resilience. I help clients explore their construction of themselves and their world. Rooted in self-compassion and cognitive behavioral therapy, I support clients in building the tools to create their own life worth living, authentic to who they are. I believe that we are all doing the best we can with the tools we have. I support others while they try to change their tools, and I believe that we all have an obligation to fight and address demands if we have the tools others do not. My favorite author, Terry Pratchett, once wrote " Them as can do has to do for them as can't. And someone has to speak up for them as has no voices."
