About My Clients

Maybe your child is anxious, overwhelmed by big emotions, struggling with behavior, or just doesn't seem like themselves lately. You may be worried about explosive behaviors, opposition/ defiance, low self-esteem, grief or loss, family changes, school difficulties, autism-related challenges, or something you can't quite put your finger on. When your child is struggling and you don't know how to help, it can feel incredibly helpless. Play Therapy works and is a powerful approach for kids.

My Background and Approach

I specialize in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), a powerfully effective, and evidence-based approach that requires specialized training and is designed specifically for children. Rather than expecting children to sit and talk about their feelings like adults, CCPT meets them at their developmental level through play, and helps children heal at the root of their struggle, which leads to long lasting change. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade as an elementary and middle school counselor, and I've worked with children and families for over 20 years. I'm also a mom of three boys, including my oldest who has autism. I understand both professionally and personally how hard it can be when your child is struggling and you aren't sure what to do. I work closely with parents throughout the therapy process so you're not left wondering what's happening or how you can support your child at home.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe every child deserves to feel seen, understood, accepted, and valued for exactly who they are. This is deeply personal to me. As a child, I struggled with bullying, intense loneliness, feelings of worthlessness, and anxiety that followed me into adulthood. I often wish I had a play therapist growing up, because I believe that kind of support could have prevented so much suffering in my own life. It's one reason I'm so passionate about helping children today. My Christian faith is an important part of who I am, and I warmly welcome families of all faiths, cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. During graduate school at Queens College in New York, I received the Multicultural Counseling Award for my commitment to culturally responsive counseling. I'm originally from New York, a mom of three boys, and I love traveling, experiencing different cultures, and learning about the world.
