Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Redlands, CA
I have extensively studied and used Solution Focused Brief Therapy since 2006. I wrote my graduate dissertation on it. I firmly believe we have the internal skills and resources to truly thrive, we just need some help figuring them out.
I have been seeing couples for counseling since 2006 and really enjoy it! I am fairly direct and use a lot of Gottman’s work as well as Emotion Focused techniques. I have worked with couples dealing with a wide variety of issues including infidelity, compulsion issues, infertility, communication skills and parenting.
I love Attachment Theory! It is almost always a part of my work with any person, couple or family. I believe that we feel and function our best when we have secure relationships with the people and institutions around us. When we don’t feel secure, life is harder. I work to identify how to have healthy, secure attachments and work on grieving when that isn’t possible.
I have worked with clients struggling with depression for many years. I do not take a one size fits all approach, but I do rely on my experience to come up with a treatment plan with the client to best meet their needs and goals. I offen encourage a clients partner or someone from their support system to join us for a few sessions to help increase understanding and support.
I have worked with a lot of parents who have adopted children and this issue comes up frequently. I also work with a lot of parents who feel “stuck” with trying to parent their children (both adopted and biological) who want to deepen their connection to their children while also maintaining boundaries! This is some of my favorite stuff to work on in therapy!
For many years I worked with you young adults who struggled with struggling to adjust to life’s transitions. This could be transitioning to going away to school, more seriously dating, deciding life’s career choices. I have also worked with many clients who needed help as they adjusted to something new or unexpected, such as job loss, moving or transitioning from one faith tradition to another.
