About My Clients
Are you struggling to cope with difficult emotions? I can guide you through navigating your feelings, learning new skills, and moving forward. Whether it's recent life events or mental health symptoms, I am here to help. I enjoy working with clients ages 13 and up. I have experience working with individuals with mood disorders (i.e. depression, bipolar), BPD, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, and AD/HD. I provide trauma counseling (CPT or EMDR), CBT, DBT skills, and other eclectic approaches.
My Background and Approach
My therapy style is down-to-earth, empathetic, and honest. I am passionate regarding providing clients with therapy that emphasizes their role in decision-making. It’s important for me to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment where clients can process emotions, problem solve, and learn new skills. I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate (LCMHCA #A15152). I have a Master of Science degree in clinical mental health counseling from UNC Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Davidson College. If you are interested in a free consultation or an intake appointment, please reach out via the contact form below.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is a privilege to serve others and to hear their stories. I am an intersectional feminist who practices from a place of cultural humility. I strive to make my therapy space safe and welcoming for marginalized groups including the LGBTQ community, people of color, folks with disabilities, etc. I also use my lived experience with AD/HD, mental illness, and queerness to inform my practice. I have found that through accepting of these parts of me, doing the hard work of therapy, and practicing what I learned from that process- I have been able to find healing and better ways to navigate through life. One of my favorite quotes is by an influential therapist named Carl Rodgers: "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." If you are struggling right now, you are not alone. While no one can tell the future, by starting therapy and doing the work, you will in all likelihood be able to access change, growth, and healing.
