I believe anxiety to be mostly symptomatic of a bigger issue within us--I tend to visualize it as the tip of the iceberg (it's all we see on the outside) but the giant ice block that lurks beneath the surface is what is really weighing us down and causing us to feel out of control--and that is what anxiety is (lack of control)! I help my clients uncover what is driving them to feel unstable and how to get back that control.

Is it difficult for you to see the value in yourself? Do you tend to be a "people-pleaser" and ignore your own wants, needs, and wishes to prioritize others? I believe our view of self affects everything else in our lives and how we interact with the world around us. I can help you see patterns in your thinking and behavior to assist you in better understanding why you tend to see others, and yourself, a certain way.

Do you feel like your thoughts are constantly negative, self-condemning and overall unhelpful? Everyone has an inner critic--our inner critic tries to assist us and tell ourselves something about a situation--but the way it tries to help is not very tactful or kind. I help my clients reframe their thinking patterns and thoughts to be more healthy and balanced (notice I am not saying 100% positive! we have to believe these thoughts if we want it to work).

Family systems or "parts work" is a self-discovery process; it helps us understand how and why we function the way that we do--we are made up of various parts of ourselves, which helps us cope and survive the ups and downs of life. Sometimes these parts become complicated, unbalanced and lead to maladaptive or dysfunctional behaviors. Learning the roles each part plays and how to safely and effectively integrate them with the self helps for a more balanced, healthy way of approaching life.

Our thoughts affect our feelings, our feelings then affect our actions; CBT is extremely helpful in identifying unhelpful patterns of thinking that contribute to our suffering, and reframing these thoughts to be more balanced.

SFBT is a goal-directed, constructive method for evoking change in individuals. Certain questions can assist clients in slowly putting the effort forward so they can focus on solutions rather than problems.
